a sneaky peak at my palette

Just thought I'd quickly show you a behind the scenes look at the paint I use-acrylics- as they dry quickly so are easy to layer. Crimson has been the main colour, with some cerulean blue mixed in for the purples and a touch of cadmium yellow to tone it all down. I have, of course, used a lot of white too.

I find one of the best ways to make a painting look coherent is to limit my colour palette. Making sure that the layout of the composition is pleasing is trickier, especially when I'm making it up as I go along [ahem, I mean allowing it to unfold intuitively]. Let me know if you think the flower placement could be more balanced. I think we are nearly there now!
